Handkerchief

More than a decoration.

     It is typically a hemmed piece of soft fabric usually cotton and is square in shape. It can be either plain or printed with designs. Maybe not everyone needs it but a gentleman should always have one, not only for decorative use because its main purpose is for personal hygiene. Anything from wiping your face and/or hands or for covering nose when sneezing or coughing (to avoid spreading germs) to getting something out of your eyes. You can offer it to a crying lady or use it yourself when overwhelmed by a very strong emotion. It can also be used as bandage in emergency situations  provided it is clean and free from any contamination.

     The scout community has what you called a neckerchief/scarf. It is triangular in shape and worn on the neck as a uniform. It is so indispensable that there's no stopping you from folding it squarely like a regular handkerchief  and making it a part of your edc alongside your standard handkerchief. 

     You can clean your eyeglasses or your other edc items with it if you don't have available microfiber cloth. It is better be handy especially in situations when you have to pull it out immediately like when a smoke or a hard blowing dust carrying wind suddenly appears in your way.  Just always carry clean handkerchief everyday.

        Some others choose bandanna or a shemagh. Because of its larger size it can do more, therefore it gives them more functionality, and its fashionability gives it an added bonus.

     Why not try to open up new possibilities by getting this new addition to your edc items. It doesn't take much time and effort to find a quality hankie given the fact that this small item got big potential.
