Cellphone

A main phone and if budget permits a second reliable back-up phone.

Instant communication with your loved ones near or far is the most important thing a cellphone can give. It's portability and versatility is unparalleled. With the ever growing list of applications that you can download and the advancement in cellphone hardware features, it has become one of the best multi-functional item in our edc.

The main phone could be anything your heart desires and depends on the budget you want to spend on it. Besides calls and text messaging, it can also be used as a camera, multimedia player, analog an/or digital tv receiver, entertainment provider, scientific calculator, ebook reader, web surfer, social media browser, map, ride sharing finder, etc. etc., you name it.

The second one must be tough and can last for at least 2 to 3 days on a full charge. It should be dependable especially in life or death situations. It should only be used in emergencies or when your main phone is low on battery and you need to communicate to someone. Always check for its battery percentage every now and then even when it is not in use. You don't want to be in a situation when you scramble for your backup for a very important call only to find out that its battery empty.

Not everyone can afford a cellphone but we definitely must have one in our edc. Communication is vital not only during emergencies but in our daily lives.
