Why Should We EDC Instant Energy Food?

With the advancement of  mass production and the proliferation of groceries and convenience stores the concept of instant foods became accessible and readily available on a whim. With a simple call food deliveries are at our doorsteps with the least amount of time. Food is almost at every corner on the street (depending on your location). No problem with that.       Why would then carry food supplies when its easy to get what you want to eat? Well, its more of an anticipation rather than desire. You carry an instant energy food like protein bars not primarily because you like to eat it on snack time but because you know that anytime during the day wherever you may be you will get hungry and you need an instant energy boost.       Preparation if you want to call it. The concept of edc comes from preparation for the things we do everyday. We need to carry our personal phone because we know communication throughout the day is very much vital in our lives. Surely n

The Dangers of Settling on Low Quality EDC Items

Go for High Quality      High quality doesn't necessarily mean high price and high price doesn't automatically mean high quality. Going for high quality edc items makes you sure that they can be relied upon for good or for bad situations. The feeling of confidence that no matter how tough the going maybe you will always push through because your edc items will never fail you.      One good way to help you decide on the item/s you want online is to check first for reviews if there were. Know the pros and cons and if the advantages outweighs the disadvantages for you then consider it. Make a thorough research and see to it that you leave no stones unturned.      The dangers come from the item failing during use specially in emergency situations. You can hurt yourself or others just because of poorly made or substandard materials being used in the product. Take a flashlight for example, you switched it on right after a power failure at night only to find it broken and y

Eco-friendly Additional EDC

A Small Start. A Big Impact.      We can start the habit of carrying additional items without much hassle if we really wanted to. Commitment to a very important cause can be daunting at first but when the routine is established it becomes more easy as days passed by until the time the habit is automatic and becomes part of our daily lives.       Why not start something to edc that would greatly reduce your plastic footprint. One way is to edc your own water bottle. You can choose a wide array of design and specifications according to your liking. In choosing plastic containers just be careful and stay away from materials containing BPA. Glass is a good option but it may not stand the daily grind. Stainless steel or copper are best and will keep your water safe and secured. Follow manufacturers recommendations when using it for best results.      This would greatly reduce the use of plastic cups, paper cups, plastic drinking bag and straw, pet bottles, and any other

Tough, Time Tested Back-up Phone

One reliable phone through the years.      This phone has been my main phone from 2008 to 2015 and then became my back-up phone up to this date . Its been 10 years now but it is still as resilient as before, except for the battery, which now only lasts for a day. All the features are functional including the start-up menu in which you have to choose between 'start phone' or 'music only' options. It can be helpful if your in a situation when you must be in airplane mode but you still want to listen to your music collection.      The call quality is good. The camera is fine. The only game that i still enjoy playing with it is the Johnny Crash Does Texas. There's no android or iphone app version of it. Its funny and challenging. A good game to entertain or relax yourself.       The walkman feature is superb. The music on speaker is loud but not broken. The mega bass is best on dedicated earphones (You can buy an adapter so that you can use a 3.5

My Father's Legacy: A Seiko 6139-7060

Enduring the Test of Time      I cannot remember the first time my father wear that watch. All I knew then was that its big and bulky considering that I was just a child back then. I don't know anything about watches, my father never told me anything about it. If they had just one edc item to bring it would be this.      While I was in teenage years they gave me a Seiko 5 with a gold dial as a gift. I was not familiar with watches and their cultural significance. I just wear it everyday in order to keep track of time. I still have it today but the dial rotates occasionally in any direction while wearing it. Maybe I'll have it restored when the time comes.       During the college days I got myself a Citizen Eagle 7. This one is still running well though has many scratches because of daily wear and tear.       By the time I was working I was into quartz wrist watches. When my father died back in 2004 I forgot everything about auto

Six ways to open a multi-functional edc lockback knife

Using each of the fingers with the thumb used twice, we can open a small lockback knife like this Cold Steel Micro Recon 1 Spear Point  . This is a micro functional edc knife with the blade measuring only 2 inches. What separates it from other lockbacks is that is has what is called a 'Triad Lock' which makes sure that the blade will never disengage when deployed and used. Its like you've got a full tang knife in your hands, not worrying that the blade will suddenly or accidentally fold and cut your fingers. A tanto version is also available here . It can be used as a keychain knife, a survival kit knife, or a back-up knife.       The pinkie had a little bit of difficulty opening it but its persistence pushed it through. One hand closing is also demonstrated either with the blade pointing up or down. Notice the rubber ring at the bottom of the knife? it is used for  Pulling out the knife from the pouch. Extending the grip to the pinkie, making it more man

Dressing Up to the Occassion

EDC with Style      Like our clothing we should do our best to match our edc items with the occasion, making sure the theme is consistent and the items complement each other. This can be done while you are still on the early stages of development. Seasoned edc guys knew this already. Once you've decided a certain type of edc style then you can check out your options, search for reviews, and start adding up. Consider the color theme (all black for example), material (titanium, stainless steel, etc.), size and weight(heavy duty, light edc, etc.) and any other factors you might think of that will satisfy your needs or desires.      The key is uniformity. You should have different types of edc collection for different types of days and events. These collections does not necessarily be a complete set, just covering some basics and  then mixing and matching. You can either categorize each  of the collection as set for special, regular, or daily edc. Or you can opt to arran
